A police student who had a “love affair” with gang leader Ismail “The Strawberry” Abdo has been suspended from training, reveals Today’s news.
– It is very difficult to detect people who deliberately apply for the training with evil intentions, says Ari Stenman, head of the Police Authority’s security department to DN.
Dagens Nyheter has reviewed 27 police students who were suspended from the training in the last four years. The reason for the suspension is secret with regard to national security, but DN has been able to, with the help of documents and sources, reveal what was behind two of the decisions.
In one of the cases, the police suspected that the police student would infiltrate the authority. This after relatives and a criminal network of the woman, who grew up in a culture of honor, decided that she should apply for police training, according to the newspaper.
In another case, a police student who was suspended from police training had, according to the police, a love affair with gang leader Ismail Abdo, known as the “Strawberry”.
“It is unclear whether the student applied to the Police College in collusion with criminals or of his own free will,” writes the newspaper.
But according to the newspaper, it is clear that the student kept his relationship with the “Strawberry” a secret.
The police chief answers
The police state to the newspaper that it is difficult to detect students with “evil intentions”.
– It is very difficult to detect people who deliberately apply for the education with evil intentions and do their best to hide it. We cannot guarantee that every single person who starts is the right person for the task, says Ari Stenman, head of the Police Authority’s security department.
– It’s a failure every time someone doesn’t measure up. I am the first to be self-critical and ask myself how we can strengthen security work even more, he continues.
