A 33-year-old Winnipeg man is facing charges after Brantford police seized weapons and more than $20,000 in illegal drugs during a search of a Lynnwood Drive address.
Police said the search on June 9 yielded a 45-caliber handgun with magazine, handgun ammunition, a Remington 783 Rifle, spotting scope, conducted energy weapon, Canadian currency, digital scale, six edged weapons, more than 40 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of more than $16,000 and and more than 46 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $ 4,600.
Police said the man’s charges include three counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, two counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon with no licence, failure to comply with judicial release order, tampering with serial number of firearm and possession of stolen goods under $5,000.
Police said the search was conducted by its tactical intelligence generated enforcement and response, or TIGER, unit, with help from the emergency response team.
