A man has been shot by police in Bromma in western Stockholm, the police write on their website.

The man was shot in the leg in connection with an arrest at 8.41pm on New Year’s Day.

“A man has attacked another man with a knife in Riksby. During the arrest, the suspect was shot by the police in the leg,” the police write.

The man who was attacked with a knife is seriously injured and has been taken to hospital.

The incident is being investigated as attempted murder.

“The crime scene in Riksby is cordoned off for technical investigation and interviews are taking place with witnesses to the incident,” the police write.
