Italian police in Rimini on New Year’s Eve shot dead a knife-wielding man who, without warning, stabbed four New Year’s celebrants in the street, Italian media write.
The man, who was an Egyptian national, was shot dead when he attacked a policeman.
The police have not classified the attack as an act of terrorism and are still looking for a motive for the attack.
An 18-year-old boy is being treated in hospital with serious injuries, while a younger girl and an elderly couple are being treated for less serious stab wounds.
