Two female police officers have been injured – one of them seriously – during an intervention in Ljusne in Hälsingland. A man is suspected of attempted murder.

A commotion broke out when a police patrol was about to check a suspected stolen car. A man in his 40s was arrested and placed in the back seat of the police car. Then he attacked one of the police officers.

“The police are, among other things, bitten and receive several blows to, among other things, the head. The man also tries to use the police’s weapon, but fails,” the police write on their website.

When another policeman came to the rescue, the man tried to take that policeman’s weapon as well. But thanks to the fact that a female private person also intervened, they managed to get the man under control.

The seriously injured police officer has been taken to hospital in an ambulance. The other police officer was slightly injured.

The incident is being investigated as attempted murder. The violent man, who is known to the police from before, is also suspected of, among other things, misappropriation of means of transportation.
