Police say the two male suspects appear to be working together, targeting elderly people shopping alone. One suspect acts as a distraction, say police, while the other steals the wallets containing credit cards and identifying documents.

Photos of the suspects have been released by police.

The first suspect is described as having a slim build with short hair and short, scruffy facial hair. He was wearing white sneakers, faded and ripped blue jeans, a white shirt, a vintage, green army-style jacket and a light, bright baseball hat.

The second suspect is described as having a muscular build and a scruffy, short gray beard. He was wearing white running shoes, tight blue jeans with ripped knees, a light gray hoodie and a black beret hat with a beak at the forehead.

Police are reminding shoppers to be aware of their surroundings and to ensure purses are zipped closed and not left unattended.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050. Information can also be provided anonymously to Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers by calling 519-750-8477 or 1-800-222-8477 or by submitting a web tip online at crimestoppersbb.com/submit-a-tip/
