Police request gang commission: “Can’t continue”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

At the commuter train station in Jordbro on Wednesday, a man in his 40s and a man in his 25s were shot, the latter died of his injuries. It is one in a series of acts of violence in the Stockholm area that can be linked to the gang criminal environment.

Within the police, there are different views on the situation that is currently affecting Sweden’s capital.

– There are those who think that there is a lot of burden on the police, because they try everything they can with the resources they have. But they see how young people they don’t even know, because they are under 15 years old, acquire a huge capital of violence and run away from HVB homes, says Diamant Salihu.

Within the corps, there is also a large dose of self-criticism, according to Diamant Salihu:

– They note that they are obviously not succeeding in their mission and want to do something different. One example that police officers bring up is a form of gang commission where you pool resources and skills and exchange information to target this environment and actually make a difference. Because right now it can’t continue as it is.

“Indifferent and take extreme risks”

The two men who were shot in Jordbro have previously been convicted of crimes. The motive for the shooting is not yet clear.

– The person who died was recently released from a prison sentence where he was convicted of attempted murder. When I talk to the police about it, they talk about a potential motive being revenge for what happened, but that remains to be seen. There are criminal networks in this area. One of these men is connected to a network. There are many potential conflicts in these environments.

One of the reasons for the recent shootings may be the power vacuum that has arisen recently.

– Part of the problems that Stockholm has right now is that many older leaders are serving long prison sentences, young people have power struggles with each other and challenge each other. At the same time they are indifferent and are prepared to take extreme risks.
