The police have reported themselves after the disappearance and death of a 17-year-old girl in the municipality of Marks, reports P4 Sjuhärad.

It took four days after the girl’s disappearance before the police launched a special incident. The same evening, last Monday, the 17-year-old was found dead near his school.

The police’s handling of the disappearance has been criticized by, among others, the girl’s relatives.

The case has now been reported to the department for special investigations, where a prosecutor must decide whether the police did something wrong.

“As previously communicated, the police themselves will also conduct an investigation of the incident,” the police write on their website.

A 17-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of murder after the girl’s death. Two of his relatives have also been detained, suspected of, among other things, gross protection of a criminal.
