Three police officers are sentenced by a French court to suspended prison terms after a black man suffered permanent anal injuries during a police check.
The incident took place in the Paris suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois in 2017. The man, who was 22 years old at the time, suffered serious anal injuries from a baton. He also suffered head injuries.
One of the police officers is sentenced to a twelve-month suspended prison sentence. The other two receive three-month suspended sentences.
The intervention sparked anger and accusations of police brutality, and led to protests.
