POLICE: Motorists charged with impaired driving

Brant County OPP have charged a 25-year-old Paris man with drinking and driving offenses following an August. 15 incident.

Police were sent to the Town of Paris at about 9:50 pm to investigate an altercation between two males. Upon arrival, the complainant told police that a red Chevrolet pickup truck had been driven erratically and at high speeds, doing burn outs and brake stands, police said.

A brake stand is when a driver keeps a vehicle stationary and spins the vehicle’s wheels to heat up the tires and generate smoke.

Police were able to locate the driver in the area and take him into custody.

The driver has been charged with impaired driving, driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited. He was released on a promise to appear in court on a later date.

Impaired driving

A 29-year-old Brantford man faces drinking and driving charges after being arrested by Six Nations Police on Aug. 13.

Police were called to a Highway 54 business to investigate a report of a suspected impaired driver attempting to pump his own gas at about 1:30 am A description of the vehicle as well as its last known direction of travel were provide to officers who then found the suspect at another business.

The 29-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Impaired driving

A 26-year-old Ohsweken man has been charged with impaired driving following an Aug. 8 incident on Fourth Line Road.

Police received a call about a suspected impaired driver at about 7:30 pm Officers later saw a vehicle matching the description provide to them and saw the driver go through two posted stop signs.

The officers activated their cruiser lights but the driver didn’t come to a complete stop and continued into a drive way. The driver got out and appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

Police have charged the driver with impaired driving, driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, driving while prohibited and obstruct police. He is scheduled to appear in court on a later date.
