Police investigating hateful words offensive symbols in school playground

Chatham-Kent police seek the public’s help with a mischief investigation that involved offensive symbols and hateful words at McNaughton Avenue elementary school.

The vandalism included swastikas drawn on playground equipment, police said.

“The Chatham-Kent Police Service takes these acts of vandalism and hate seriously, as they significantly impact the community and its residents,” a release said.

“We strongly urge the public to immediately report these types of vandalism to the respective property owners and the police.

“It is crucial that these incidents are reported promptly so that we can conduct an effective and efficient investigation and the graffiti can be cleaned up quickly to prevent any further negative impact on others.”

Police said the online tool provides a safe and confidential platform for reporting incidents and seeking support. It is important to note that this reporting tool does not prompt a police investigation.
