Chatham-Kent police opened an investigation after “hate-motivated graffiti” was sprayed on a community garden shed.

A citizen spotted the graffiti while walking in the area of 325 Grand Ave. E. in Chatham around 7:30 am on Sunday, police said.
The graffiti, was sprayed sometime over the weekend, police said. It has since been covered with paint.

Vehicle fails to stop, found with wrong plates
A driver failed to stop when an officer attempted to pull over a truck in Wallaceburg Monday evening.
The officer pursued the truck, being driven erratically, on Murray Street around 7:30 pm, but he sped away, Chatham-Kent police said.
The truck was later located and found to have improper license plates.

Chatham man charged with impaired
A 46-year-old Chatham man is charged with impaired driving after a crash in Southwold Township early Monday morning.
The accident involved a passenger vehicle on Ferguson Line near Wonderland Road around 2:30 am, Elgin OPP said.
The driver was taken to hospital, but no serious injuries were reported.
His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He was released from custody with a court date in St. Thomas on Jan. 21.
