The hunt for the TV4 profile suspected of over 30 sex purchases took the next step yesterday.
The prosecutor then chose to arrest the man in his absence and call for him worldwide – and the police effort became even more intense.
– We have information that he is abroad. It is now a matter of executing the arrest warrant. They have worked actively and are still working actively. I don’t want to comment on how we act, says senior chamber prosecutor Per Svensson.
Tracks on the driveway to the house
The background is that the man, who is known from a TV4 production but not employed by the channel, was charged earlier in December for about 30 sex purchases at various Thai massage parlors around Sweden. But since then he has been missing.
The TV4 profile must be served with the indictment, otherwise several of the crimes will be time-barred in January 2025. When the district court, after several attempts, failed to find the man, it was decided to involve the police, who were tasked with finding him.
According to documents obtained by TV4 Nyheterna, the police have made at least nine different attempts to get hold of the TV4 profile over the course of a week. At the first intervention against the address that the internationally wanted man stated that he lives on message the police officer that all the windows were closed and that no one was looked after in the residence.
On the other hand, there were car tracks on the driveway to the house, which the TV4 profile is itself registered in.
The police then made digital contact attempts. Both SMS and email were sent, which were not delivered.
Made himself uncontactable: “Media drive”
Two days later, two more operations were carried out at the TV4 profile’s residence, one in the afternoon and one early in the evening. The following morning they struck again.
The police then chose to search for the hunted man at other addresses to which he is linked.
“Don’t know where he is. Would pass on info that the police want to get in touch with him,” the police wrote in their report after speaking with a resident of one of the locations.
On Wednesday, the day before it was decided to continue the hunt worldwide, a police patrol made another attempt in Sweden – at a relative of the TV4 profile.
“NN was noticeably averse to the justice system in view of the media frenzy that arose in connection with charges being brought against (the TV4 profile),” the police wrote afterwards. The relative confirmed that the man’s number and email have been deregistered and that she “would not share any contact information if she had it”.
The search before the escape: Staying away from the police
In other documents that TV4 Nyheterna has seen, it appears that the TV4 profile’s lawyer, Magnus Arntell, stated to the prosecutor that he has not had contact with his client since last summer and that he also does not know where the man is.
“However, I can state that we had diametrically different views regarding the prerequisites for detaining my principal based on what is claimed. When it comes to questions about contacts with clients, it is unfortunately nothing that I discuss or comment on,” writes Magnus Arntell in a comment to TV4 Nyheterna.
According to the prosecutor, they have information that the TV4 profile moved to a specific country, but do not want to comment exactly where.
– Some crimes are statute-barred at the beginning of the coming year. It is urgent to get hold of him, says Per Svensson.
In the preliminary investigation, it appears that the man applied for “prescription sex purchase” and “what happens if I stay away from the police during the prescription period”.
The prosecutor does not want to state what the police effort looks like when chasing the TV4 profile abroad.
