A man was shot by police in Eskilstuna on Saturday evening.
The police announced this on their website.
– When we arrive at the scene, it escalated to the point that the police had to fire, says Tommy Thorngren, press spokesperson at the police.
At half past six on Saturday evening, the police received a call about a man who was aggressive and needed to be checked in the area of Stenby in Eskilstuna.
“When the patrol arrives at the scene, a situation arises that causes the patrol to make the choice to fire active fire at the man,” the police write on their website.
– I cannot tell you many details at the moment. We are investigating what happened, says Tommy Thorngren, police spokesperson.
The man was hit and taken to hospital.
– The assessment is that he was awake and talkative, so the injury is stable. But that is what the police have assessed, says Tommy Thorngren.
A preliminary investigation begins where the man is suspected of unlawful threats.

During the same time, alarms came in about loud explosions in Lagerberg. An area located right next to Stenby where a policeman is firing with his service weapon.
