Police fired warning shots – one arrested

A police operation is underway in Södertälje after callers raised the alarm about several people with weapon-like objects outside their home.
In connection with the arrest of two younger men, the police fired a warning shot.
– The police received calls about people with weapon-like objects, says Rebecca Landberg, press spokesperson for the Stockholm police region.

The police were alerted at 8:18 p.m. that several people were outside a residence with weapon-like objects. A police patrol that was nearby was alerted to the scene.

– The patrol was quickly on the scene, two younger men were arrested in different places, says Rebecca Landberg and continues:

Made several finds at the site

The persons are suspected of serious crimes against the Weapons Act and serious weapons crimes. The police have also made several discoveries in connection with the operation.

– The investigation is at an early stage and we cannot comment on what findings we have made at the moment, says Rebecca Landberg.

The police also cannot comment on whether the arrested men were armed or not. The site has been cordoned off for technical examination.

– We are creating a picture of the situation right now. We have two arrested and are using dogs now to see if there are other tracks and anything of interest to the police.
