Driver charged after pedestrian injured
A driver is facing charges after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Tillsonburg on Wednesday night.
Oxford OPP and paramedic services responded to a collision on Charlotte Avenue at just before 10 pm on Aug. 24.
A pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries.
Police utilized an approved screening device to test the driver, who was then arrested and taken to the OPP detachment for more tests.
A 56-year-old Tillsonburg man was subsequently charged with impaired driving and careless driving. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Close call for officers
A vehicle traveling at twice the speed limit narrowly missed police officers working at a RIDE checkpoint in Norwich on Thursday night.
Oxford OPP say the vehicle approached the program site on Highway 59 at about 11:24 pm The vehicle was traveling at double the posted speed limit of 50 km/h, police said in a media release.
The suspect vehicle was stopped by police a short time later.
A 54-year-old Tillsonburg man has been charged with dangerous driving, cocaine possession and being in a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited device or ammunition inside.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
