In the state of Arizona, the protesters were met by police who used tear gas to disperse the crowds.

“Troops used tear gas to disperse a gathering of protesters who started knocking on the glass doors of the local Senate building,” said Bart Graves, a Arizona police spokesman. More protests are expected around the country in the coming days.
