In the past six months, the Stockholm area has been marked by an extensive wave of violence between two networks fighting for market share in the drug market. Shootings and explosions have been directed at relatives and have often been carried out by young people aged 15 who have been assigned to shoot strangers for payment.
– This issue has ended up between different ministries and has not been within my area. We have to analyze the issue and see what consequences this has, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M).
Used in mass shootings abroad
Military semi-automatic weapons have been used in mass shootings on several occasions, for example in the United States and in New Zealand. It is about weapons that were previously only allowed to be used for target shooting in Sweden, but which from the first of August will be used by those who have a hunting license. Norway and Canada are among the countries that do not allow military semi-automatic weapons when hunting.
