The prosecutor at the Special Prosecutor’s Chamber believes that it was not an emergency situation and that the shooting was not clearly justified. The accused police officer denies any wrongdoing.
The incident occurred after the police were alerted that the woman was behaving abnormally. When the patrol arrived at the scene, the woman was holding an ax and an object that turned out to be a toy weapon. The police asked her to drop the object, but when she did not, she was shot in the leg.
The woman’s other leg had been amputated after a previous police shooting in 2017, reports Smålandsposten.
