The unidentified person was spotted wearing black clothing, imitation body armor and a face covering, police said.

The individual was found with a replica revolver, St. Thomas police said, and was dressed like a character from the popular first-person-shooter video game Call of Duty.

“The individual was cooperative with the police and was educated on the potential perception and risks of wearing this type of costume in public,” St. Thomas police said in a statement.

It’s not the first time a cosplayer has attracted attention from police for their costume.

In 2018, Toronto police arrested a costumed man heading to Fan Expo after he brought a replica gun on a streetcar. The man was later released when the gun was found to be fake.

Days before Halloween in 2019, Metro Vancouver Transit Police put out a public statement urging costume-clad revealers to leave their fake weapons at home.

Lethbridge police came under fire in 2020 for handcuffing a 19-year-old woman dressed in a Star Wars stormtrooper costume after reports she was carrying a gun. The woman, a staff member of a nearby business holding a May the Fourth promotion, was carrying a toy gun while waving at people to come in.
