Stratford police received a report on Sunday, just before 5:30 p.m., that a female was being threatened by her ex-spouse. About an hour later, police were told that the man was at a residence on Wellington Street, in St. Marys, and had a firearm. Police went to the home, and the man was barricaded inside.
Negotiations with police resulted in the man throwing an imitation pistol toward police.
After a warrant was obtained, members of the Stratford Police Service Emergency Response Unit entered the residence at 10:30 p.m. and arrested the man without incident. The man was taken to Stratford police headquarters and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, one count of uttering threats to burn property and one count of failing to comply with probation.
