Provincial police are investigating after a pickup truck left running in the parking lot of a Listowel business was stolen while its owner was inside the store.

The truck – a gray 2005 Dodge Ram – was taken around 7:30 am on Sunday while it was parked at a business on Main Street West, Perth County OPP said. Police later recovered the truck in Brockton, about 65 kilometers north of Listowel, the same day.

Police reminded citizens this week to keep vehicles and buildings locked and report suspicious activity immediately.

Suspended driver behind the wheel of stolen vehicle blocking traffic in West Perth

A broken down vehicle blocking traffic on Perth Line 24 in West Perth this month turned out to be stolen, police allege.

Perth County OPP said officers responded to a call about the vehicle around 1:45 pm on April 6. An investigation revealed the 28-year-old West Perth man behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle was reportedly driving with a suspended licence, police said .

In addition to possession of stolen property and driving while suspended, the man was charged with resisting arrest, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The man accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Stratford court at a later date, police said.

Public info leads to impaired driving charge on Good Friday

Tips from the public led to the arrest of a reportedly impaired driver in North Perth on Good Friday, police say.

Perth County OPP said officers responded to a report about a possible impaired driver just after 10 am, locating the vehicle at a business on Wallace Avenue North in Listowel.

The driver, a 43-year-old man from Listowel, was transported to an OPP operations center for further testing and charged for impaired driving, police said.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a Stratford court at a later date. His driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days, police said.
