Police arrest man after alleged assault with knife

A 38-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a retail loss prevention officer with a knife.

Officers were called to a business at Lynden Road and Wayne Gretzky Parkway on Oct. 15 at about 5:20 p.m.

Police say the loss prevention officer was attempting to detain the accused following a theft. A knife was found on the accused during a search, say police.

The accused is charged with theft under $5,000; assault; assault with a weapon; probation order non-compliance; and failure to comply with judicial release.

Man accused of threatening restaurant staff

A Brantford man who allegedly became abusive to staff when asked to leave a restaurant is facing charges.

Police were called to a restaurant in the area of ​​Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Edmondson Street on Oc. 14 at about 5:30 pm after receiving a report of a disturbance.

The man is accused of yelling threats of violence at staff.

A 63-year-old is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

Disturbance at Brantford home results in charges

A 21-year-old man was charged after police were called to a Hilda Street home about a disturbance.

On Oct. 14 at about 4 am, officers found the accused who had been allegedly yelling and banging on the windows of the residence. Damage was found on the front door.

Charges against the man include breaking, entering and dwelling house with intent to commit unspeakable offense; mischief under $5,000; cause disturbance; and trespass near dwelling house.

Brantford pair face assault charges

A retail loss prevention officer sustained minor injuries after an alleged assault at a Brantford business.

Police were called to a store on Colborne Street near Kiwanis Way on Oct. 12 at about 6:45 pm

The loss prevention officer reported seeing the accused concealing items and leaving the store without paying. Witnesses said the co-accused tried to help the accused, who was resisting arrest outside the store. The co-accused allegedly assaulted the loss prevention officer.

Police arrest a 39-year-old Brantford woman who is charged with assault; theft under $5,000; possession of stolen goods under $5,000; and resist arrest. A 40-year-old Brantford man is charged with assault.

Drivers face impaired charges

Brantford police issued several recent impaired driving charges.

On Oct. 16, shortly after midnight, officers were called to the area of ​​Market Street and Icomm Drive after receiving a report about a possible impaired driver.

A 22-year-old man was charged.

On Oct. 15 at about 4 am, officers were called to Brant Road 18 and Colborne Street East where witnesses said a vehicle was stopped at the intersection.

Police say they found a woman slumped over in the driver’s seat and an open bottle of liquor was found in the vehicle.

A 28-year-old woman is charged with operation while impaired and having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

On Oct. 11 at 5:40 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of ​​Erie Avenue near Birkett Lane after a collision.

Police say the accused refused to provide samples of his breath.

A 52-year-old man is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; failure or refusal to comply with demand; owner operator motor vehicle on highway – no insurance; drive motor vehicle – no license; drive motor vehicle – no permit.
