Police blotter Three suffer minor injuries in crash

A driver has been charged with making an unsafe turn following a two-vehicle crash that sent three people to hospital with minor injuries in Norfolk County.

The crash occurred at Highway 3 and Nixon Road on Tuesday.

One of the drivers has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with ‘turn – not in safety, said Norfolk OPP.

Driver faces impaired charge

A 27-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with drinking and driving offenses following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 24 on Tuesday.

Norfolk County OPP were sent to the scene at about 9:31 pm Aug. 15 and upon arrival arrested the driver without incident. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

Police have charged the driver with impaired driving, driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a valid permit and being a novice driver and driving with a blood-alcohol concentration of above zero ,

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Aug. 29.

Suspicious person report

A 39-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged after a homeowner spotted someone rummaging through items on the front porch of the residence.

Norfolk OPP were notified of a suspicious male at a St. Andrew Street, Port Dover residence just before 3 pm on Aug. 15. An officer patrolling the area spotted a suspect and took him into custody after discovering stolen property.

The accused has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
