Police blotter: Three drivers charged; altercation in Dunnville

Three Norfolk County residents face impaired driving charges in separate incidents.

A 25-year-old male driver was stopped on Bay Street in Port Rowan at about 2:42 am on Saturday, March 16.

The Norfolk OPP officer took the driver into custody after assessing his sobriety at roadside.

The accused is charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and speeding 1 to 49 km/h over the posted speed limit

Later the same day, a 49-year-old driver was stopped on James Street in Delhi at about 10:33 pm

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at roadside, the driver was placed under arrest.

The accused is charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle, fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, fail to have insurance card, and drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit.

Norfolk OPP responded to a neighbor dispute on Adams Avenue in Delhi at about 12:39 pm on Monday, March 18.

Officers determined that one of the individuals involved was suspected of being impaired and attempted to leave the vicinity in a vehicle.

Police located the vehicle still at the property, assessed the driver’s sobriety, and took him into custody.

The 60-year-old accused is charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

Norfolk OPP encourages citizens to call 9-1-1 if they see a driver whom they think may be impaired.

Altercation in Dunnville

Haldimand OPP are asking for the public’s assistance as they continue to investigate a disturbance in Dunnville.

Police were called at about 1:30 am on Sunday, March 17 after a verbal argument between two unknown males began while a large group of bosses were outside of a Queen Street establishment.

The altercation reportedly escalated when an edged weapon was brandished, but no injuries were sustained.

Both parties fled the scene on foot as police arrived, and are believed to have entered a vehicle that left the area

Haldimand OPP are asking anyone with surveillance cameras, dash-cams, or doorbell cameras to check for footage that may help investigators.
