Six drivers face impaired charges

Brantford Police have charged six people with impaired driving since Saturday, Jan. 29.

A 57-year-old Brantford man has been charged with impaired driving.

Police say a concerned citizen advised of a possible impaired driver on Highway 403 at about 7:30 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Officers stopped the vehicle at Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Henry Streets, and observed signs of impairment while speaking with the driver.

A roadside screening device produces a fail result, and breath samples obtained at the station were approximately three times the legal limit, said police.

A 29-year-old Brantford man has been charged with operation while impaired by drug.

Police say the driver left the roadway on Brant Avenue and struck a pole just before 10 pm Monday, Jan. 31.

Earlier in the day Monday, police received a call about a possible impaired driver on Dalhousie Street.

Police located the vehicle, driven by a 41-year-old London man.

In both cases, officers observed signs of impairment and took the accused into custody.

A 33-year-old Brantford woman faces impaired driving charges, being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration about zero, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Police were called on Saturday, Jan. 29 after a passing vehicle on Alfred Street struck two parked vehicles.

Officers discovered the accused nearby.

Breath samples obtained at the station were twice the legal limit, said police.

A 72-year-old Brantford man has been charged with impaired driving and failing to signal for a turn.

Police were alerted at 5:45 pm on Saturday, Jan. 29 to a possible impaired driver.

Officers found the vehicle at King and Dalhousie Streets and noticed the driver failed to signal a turn.

In speaking with the driver, signs of intoxication were observed and an ensuing roadside screening test failed.

Breath samples obtained were over the legal limit, said police.

Vehicles in all these incidents were impounded for seven days, and a 90-day license suspension was issued.

Driver charged following collision

A 32-year-old Brantford man has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

Brant OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision at about 2:17 am Friday, Feb. 4 on Scenic Drive in Brant County.

A passing motorist notified police that a vehicle had slide off the roadway and was stuck in the snow.
