POLICE BLOTTER Oxford man charged with possession of firearm

A 33-year-old Oxford County resident is facing charges after police executed a search warrant on a Tillsonburg home.

The accused was arrested on June 23 on Durham Street. Oxford OPP say the man ran from the house when officers, along with the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and the OPP Canine Unit entered.

Police say the accused was arrested without incident and charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition; possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order; and three counts of fail to comply with probation order.

Police say two vehicles stolen over weekend

Norfolk OPP are investigating after two vehicles were reported stolen over the weekend.

On June 23 at about 9:30 am, police were called about a vehicle theft at a Highway 19, Norfolk County address. Police say a black 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt sedan was stolen sometime between 2:45 am on June 22 and 9:40 am on June 23.

On Monday at about 2:30 am, police were called about a vehicle theft from a Woodhouse Avenue address in Port Dover.

Police say a white 2004 Ford F-350 pickup with Canada flag stickers was stolen sometime during the early morning hours.

Sarnia resident faces impaired driving charges

A Sarnia resident has been charged with impaired driving after a single-vehicle collision on Saturday.

Norfolk OPP officers responded to the accident at about 11:45 pm on Front Road in Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

A 41-year-old is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

Police remind residents to lock vehicles

Norfolk OPP are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables after they say documents were stolen from a vehicle parked on Tamarack Way in Simcoe.

Police say the theft happened sometime during the late evening of June 22 or early morning of June 23.
