Norfolk resident faces assault with weapon charge

A Norfolk County resident is facing assault charges after an incident in Simcoe earlier this week.

Police responded to Fourteenth Street on Monday morning to investigate a reported assault.

Two people were involved in a verbal disagreement that became physical, Norfolk OPP said in a media release.

During the interaction, one person was assaulted with a weapon. Police said no serious injuries were reported.

A 38-year-old Norfolk resident has been charged with assault with a weapon.

Irrigation pump stolen

A diesel irrigation pump valued at about $40,000 was stolen from a farm in the North Walsingham area.

Sometime between Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 thieves removed the pump from the rear of a property on 12th Concession Road, North Walsingham.

The pump is described as a John Deere model that is on a trailer with wheels.
