Norfolk OPP is investigating a vehicle break and enter parked at a Cherry Street address.

Officers were called to the address at about 9:15 am July 17. Upon arrival, police determined that the vehicle was entered sometime overnight Sunday to Monday morning.

Once inside, a small quantity of items were stolen, police said.

Officers also discovered there had been an attempt to break into a trailer parked on the property.

Residents are being reminded to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables. Anyone spotting suspicious behavior is urged to call police immediately at 1-888-310-1122.

Anyone with information about the vehicle break and enter is asked to call police. Those who wish to remain anonymous are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous online message at www.helpsolvecrime.com to become eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Collisions

Norfolk OPP investigated two separate single-vehicle collisions that resulted in drinking and driving charges in the past four days.

The first incident took place Friday (July 14) when officers were dispatched to a Radical Road address just before 8 pm Minor injuries had been reported, Norfolk OPP said in a statement.

Upon arrival, police took a 77-year-old Norfolk County man into custody. He was subsequently charged with impaired driving and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

The legal limit for Ontario drivers is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Aug. 8.

On Saturday (July 15) just after 1 pm, Norfolk OPP officers were sent to a single-vehicle collision at a Silver Lake Drive, Port Dover address.

No injuries were reported.

However, a 25-year-old Norfolk County man was taken into custody and subsequently charged with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Aug. 1.

A 38-year-old Norfolk County man faces charges following a July 16 incident at a Nelson Street West address in Port Dover.

Norfolk OPP officers, the OPP Emergency Response Team and the OPP canine unit were sent to the address at about 4:20 pm to investigate a suspicious vehicle. The driver was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The accused has been charged with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, dangerous operation of a vehicle and failing to stop for police. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Aug. 8.
