Police blotter: missing woman, domestic violence, impaired driving

Brant OPP has issued a missing person’s alert for a 30-year-old Brantford woman.

Alicsia was last seen on Feb, 17 at a Darling Street residence in Brantford. She is a black female, approximately 5’5” with dark hair and brown eyes and was wearing black scrub pants, shirt and boots.

Provincial police were sent to a Brant County address on March 1 to investigate a report of a missing person. Police want to locate the woman to confirm her well-being.

Intimate partner violence

Brant OPP have charged two people following an Sunday morning (March 3) intimate partner violence investigation.

Provincial police officers were dispatched to a Brant County address at about 12:15 am The officers learned two people were involved in a confrontation inside a residence.

Police subsequently charged a 27-year-old Brant County resident with two counts of assault with a weapon, mischief (domestic) and assault (spousal).

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on March 25.

Provincial police also charged a 37-year-old Brantford resident with failure to comply with an undertaking.

Impaired driving

A 34-year-old Brant County man faces drinking and driving charges after being pulled over early Sunday morning (March 3) in Paris.

Brant OPP say an officer on patrol at 1:20 am spotted a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, police said.

The officer had reason to believe the driver had been drinking alcohol and arrested him.

Brant OPP subsequently charged the driver with impaired driving and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The legal limit for Ontario drivers is 80 milligrams of alcohol for ever 100 milliliters of blood.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Brantford court on March 21.

Impaired driving

A 75-year-old Brant County man has been charged with impaired driving after being spotted by police on general patrol.

Brant County OPP say an officer spotted a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner at about 2:18 pm Sunday in Burford. The vehicle was similar to one that was the subject of a traffic complaint received by Brant OPP earlier that day.

After speaking to the driver, the officer determined the driver had been drinking. He was arrested, transported to the OPP detachment for further testing and subsequently charged with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Brantford court on March 15.

Suspended driver

A Brant County OPP officer used an Automatic License Plate Recognition device to nab a suspended driver.

The officer was on patrol on Feb. 28 when the device detected a suspended driver. The vehicle was stopped and the 50-year-old driver from Burlington was charged with driving while suspended and driving without a valid permit.

Provincial police seized the driver’s suspended license.

The driver is scheduled to appear in Brantford court on March 26.

Hit and run

An 18-year-old Brant County man has been charged with careless driving following a Sunday (March 3) incident that began at a Fairview Drive and West Street gas station.

Brantford police were dispatched at about 9:30 pm to investigate a report of an SUV colliding with a truck before fleeing the scene of the collision, police said.

The SUV was seen traveling in a dangerous manner and at high rate of speed, police said.

Police located the SUV flipped over in a ditch at the corner of Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Dunsdon Street. The SUV driver was with the vehicle and officers learned he had a G2 license.

The accused has also been charged with stunt driving. The vehicle has been impounded and his driver’s license has been suspended.

Unpaired

A 29-year-old Brantford woman faces drinking and driving charges after a vehicle collided with a building at Dunsdon Street and Greenfield Road.

Police were sent to the scene at 9:20 pm Saturday (March 2) and, while speaking with the driver, noticed signs of impairment. Officers subsequently learned the woman did not have a valid driver’s license.

The accused has been charged with impaired driving and driving with more than the legal amount of alcohol in his blood. The vehicle she was driving has been impounded for seven days.

Brantford fire fighters also attended the scene because the collision damaged a live gas line.

Highway Traffic Act charges

Police have charged a 22-year-old Brantford man with various Highway Traffic Act charges following an early Saturday (March 2) morning traffic stop.

Officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area of ​​Stanley and Dalhousie Streets at about 2 am Police determined that the license plates attached were not registered to the vehicle.

While speaking to the driver, police spotted what appeared to be a handgun in plain view. Further investigation determined that the firearm was a replica.

After noticing signs of impairment, the driver was required to perform an alcohol screening demand test. He registered an alert and was given a three-day license suspension.

Police also learned the driver has a G1 driver’s license.

The driver has been charged with driving a motor vehicle and failing to display two plates, using license plates not authorized for the vehicle and having a blood-alcohol level above zero while a novice driver.

Police seized the unauthorized plates and the vehicle.
