Lawnmower driver facing loads

Driving a riding lawnmower in the street just after midnight is sure to draw attention.

Norfolk OPP officers on foot patrol spotted such a driver on Thompson Drive at just after midnight on Thursday.

The driver was arrested and taken into custody.

Two days prior, police were called to investigate the theft of a 2022, John Deere X394 riding lawnmower from a property on Ireland Road in Simcoe. The theft is believed to have occurred at about 6 am that morning.

A 36-year-old Norfolk man is now facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He is also facing two counts of failing to comply with a release order, charges of failing to comply with undertaking, and breach of recognition.

He was held in custody and was to appear in court at a later date, Norfolk OPP said in a release.

Man accused of making threats

A Norfolk County man is facing charges of uttering threats.

Police investigated a threat complaint on Cedar Street in Simcoe on Wednesday.

A 36-year-old man was subsequently charged with uttering threats to cause death of bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
