Hagersville resident charged with forcible confinement

A Haldimand County resident is facing charges after what police say was a domestic disturbance on the weekend.

Haldimand OPP responded to a report at about 3 am on Sunday of a person barricaded in a residence on Haldimand Road 20. Several police units – tactics and rescue, negotiators, emergency response team, K-9 and uniformed offices – were at the scene.

Haldimand Road 20 was closed from Highway 3 to Cheapside Road, police said Sunday on social media.

The road reopened just before 11 am

A 43-year-old Hagersville resident has been charged with mischief and forcible confinement.

Firearms charges

A Mount Elgin resident is facing several firearms charges after an incident in Delhi early Sunday morning.

Norfolk OPP say an officer on patrol stopped to investigate an incident on Church Street East at about 1:39 am

A 20-year-old Mount Elgin man was taken into custody and later charged with being an occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon; careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.
