Police blotter: Driver injured in single-vehicle collision on Highway 403

A driver was taken to hospital after a single-vehicle collision on Monday in Norwich Township.

Oxford OPP, Oxford Paramedic Services and firefighters from Norwich Township were called to the accident that happened in the westbound lane of Highway 403 near Highway 53.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, say police.

One of the westbound lanes of Highway 403 was closed for several hours for police investigation.

Driver faces numerous charges

A 20-year-old Norfolk County man faces numerous charges including stunt driving and fleeing from police after an incident in Courtland on Tuesday afternoon.

Norfolk OPP say an officer clocked a vehicle going more than 150 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on 1st Concession Road STR in Courtland.

The driver sped away after the officer attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle later left the road and the driver then fled on foot. No injuries were reported, said police.

The suspect was located nearby and taken into custody.

He was charged with operation of a vehicle while prohibited, dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, stunt driving, speeding and using a plate not authorized for vehicle.

Theft from vehicles

Norfolk OPP are investigating several incidents where vehicles were targeted by thieves earlier this week.

Two vehicles were entered at a property on O’Mahoney Road in the Renton area sometime overnight or early morning Tuesday. A quantity of Canadian currency was stolen, said police.

Similar incidents were reported at other Norfolk County properties on Cockshutt Road Townsend, Concession 14 Townsend and Wilson Avenue in Delhi.

Police urge motorists to ensure vehicles are locked and valuables removed.

Vehicle stolen in Port Dover

Police are investigating after a vehicle was stolen from near Port Dover earlier this week.
