A 44-year-old Norfolk County resident has been charged following a disturbance at Norfolk General Hospital.

Norfolk OPP were called just before 6 pm on Wednesday, June 26 regarding an individual on West Street that was creating a disturbance.

The accused was arrested without incident and has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

Police remind residents that it is prohibited for anyone to be in an intoxicated condition in a location where the general public has access or is invited, or in any part of a residence that is shared by occupants of multiple dwellings.

Home’s window damaged

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect who damaged a window at a Simcoe home.

Norfolk OPP were called just after 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 16 to a Colborne St. N. address where an individual used an object to damage a window before fleeing in a gray Acura sedan.

The suspect is described as a male, about five-feet seven-inches tall with a thin build, light-colored hair about five inches in length, and was wearing a light blue sweater and dark pants.

Shoplifting load

A 59-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged following a shoplifting incident in Port Dover.

Norfolk OPP were called to a Market Street East address at about 2:51 pm on Monday, June 17.

Police say that just after 4 p.m. the previous day a man entered the business and concealed a quantity of alcohol on his person before leaving without making payment.

Officers located the accused at an address on Kelly Drive in Port Dover where he was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

Stolen vehicle recovered

A pickup truck taken from a Simcoe Street address in Norwich was recovered hours after being reported stolen.

Oxford County OPP were notified at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 about the theft of a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck.

The vehicle was recovered at about 12:30 p.m. the same day in a field near Sandusk Road in Haldimand County.

Police are continuing the investigation.

Two trucks stolen in Port Dover

Norfolk OPP are asking for the public’s help to locate two vehicles reported stolen in Port Dover, and those responsible for the crimes.

Police investigated the theft of a white 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck from a Briarlea Crescent address in Port Dover on Wednesday, June 26.

The theft occurred between 6 and 6:30 am and police say a black SUV was seen in the area at the time.

Officers also investigated the theft of a blue 2001 GMC Sonoma pickup truck with a blue tonneau cover and a large skull decal on the hood.

The truck was taken from a Dover Avenue address in Port Dover overnight or in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 26.

Driver charged

A 38-year-old Norfolk County woman has been charged with impaired driving.

A vehicle stopped at an intersection near Queensway East and Norfolk St. N. drew the attention of an officer on patrol just after 3 pm Monday, June 24.

The driver was arrested after failing a roadside sobriety assessment.

The accused is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs; and driving while under suspension.
