Rap musician Tupac “2pac” Shakur was shot from a moving car in September 1996.
Las Vegas police have arrested a rap musician Tupac “2pac” Shakur of a man suspected of murder, reports the news agency Reuters.
The suspect is Duane “Keffe D” Davis and he was arrested on Friday morning local time, despite the fact that the exact charge was not clear. He returned to the charges later on Friday local time. Davis is a member of a California crime gang.
Shakur was shot from a passing car in 1996. He died of his injuries in hospital a few days later.
Suspect Davis has admitted in interviews and in his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, that he was in the Cadillac from which the fatal shots were fired, AP reports.
Although Shakur was only 25 years old when he died, he is one of the most famous rap musicians in the world. Despite his young age, he managed to sit in prison, appear in hit movies and sell tens of millions of albums. A biographical book named after Shakur will be published in October.
