A police officer in northwestern Scania is convicted of misconduct after attacking a man who was arrested after a car chase. A police patrol had spotted the car as it drove at high speed through Helsingborg. After crashing into another car, the car stopped and two men tried to run away. One of them could be arrested and had to sit on the ground. The now-convicted policeman arrived at the scene when the arrested person was already sitting on the ground, but according to the indictment, he rushed towards the arrested person and physically attacked him.

The policeman is sentenced to SEK 20,000 in fines for misconduct, reports HD/South Sweden. He was also charged with assault and grossly false declaration, but in that part he was acquitted. The man may continue to work as a police officer, following a decision by the police personnel responsibility board.
