Police are charged with several crimes – ran down a moped

A civil police chased, chased and wrestled down a teenager on a moped in Falkenberg municipality.
Now the policeman is charged, suspected of several crimes.
– He took a swing at me so that I landed on my hand and broke it, says the teenager in the interrogation.

Last spring, a 16-year-old teenager was on his way to a friend’s when he passed a police car that had stopped an EPA tractor in Falkenberg municipality. In the interrogation, the teenager says that he was driving at 50 to 60 kilometers per hour when the police saw him. At first he didn’t suspect the police were following him, so he kept driving.

But when the moped rider turned onto a smaller road, he noticed that a civil policeman was following and turned on his blue lights.

– I had tuned the moped and was missing a registration plate, so I thought I would drive from there, because I knew that they are not really allowed to chase mopeds, he says in an interview with the police.

The teenager: “Pulls the neck”

Civil police called off the chase when they came to an intersection. But when the 16-year-old turned back onto the main road, he encountered a civilian police car which swerved onto his side, forcing the moped rider to drive onto the wrong side of the road and almost run down a cyclist.

The civil police turned the car around and chased after him at high speed, then cut in front of the teenager – leading to a collision.

– Then he jumps out of the car and walks up to me. He neckswings me so that I land on my hand and break it. Then he yells that I should stay.

The accused police officer disagrees with the teenager’s description.

– His hands did not touch the asphalt when I sat him down. Any injuries he received when he drove into the police car or when he ended up on the ground after the collision, the police say in the interrogation.

Suspected of several crimes

The policeman is now indicted, suspected of several crimes, something like Halland’s News was the first to report. Among other things, this applies to misconduct, negligence in traffic and causing bodily harm. In terms of misconduct, the prosecutor believes that the policeman breached his authority by not reporting the pursuit to his officer on duty and by having stopped the moped by force.

The policeman denies any crime.
