– Just before four o’clock we received an alarm that someone had seen a suspicious object on the street, says Mats Pettersson, the police’s press officer.
The police patrol sent to the scene made the same assessment as the caller from the public. The item must be a bag or sack.
– It cannot be ruled out that it is a sharp object. And considering previous events, we decided to take the safe side before the uncertain, says Mats Pettersson.
Several blocks are cordoned off. Streets affected include S:t Persgatan, Kungsgatan and Kvarngatan.
The National Bomb Squad is on its way to the scene.
– Right now we are checking the barriers so that there are no unauthorized people inside, says Mats Pettersson.
