Communication from encrypted chats that Swedish police have had access to since 2020 has so far contributed to around 380 people being sentenced to a total of more than 2,200 years in prison, according to figures Ekot has seen.
The cracked chats have made it easier to catch top-level criminals and are believed to have been able to prevent everything from murder to bombings, drug trafficking and extortion.
