Polestar 3is scheduled to debut in Q3 next year, and the company will showcase an integral part of the vehicle, called the Smart Eye, at CES 2023. This is a closed-loop system that monitors the driver and can prevent potentially fatal accidents.
The technology, which the brand calls Smart Eye, monitors the driver’s condition with the help of cameras and sensors in the cockpit, artificial intelligence algorithms, and looks for signs of drowsiness, distraction or even disconnection. If the system detects something disturbing by monitoring the driver’s eyelids, head and eye movements, it initiates an alert to draw their attention. The system can even take preventive measures and stop the vehicle if necessary.
The technology is powered by a central computer with an Nvidia chip, and at next year’s CES, visitors will be able to see and test the technology in action. (Details such as the way the system tracks the driver’s face and what he’s looking for will become clear).
The Smart Eye system will be available on every Polestar 3 vehicle after its release.
