Hyperactive in sending military equipment to Ukraine, Poland now wants to accelerate its own production and become a leading military power. During the visit of European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton on Monday (March 27th) to a shell factory in the south of the country with Polish leaders, the parties promised to forge important partnerships for military production.

It was in one of the factory’s warehouses that Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton shook hands. Together they want boost arms production of the European Union.
” We know very well that there is not enough of this ammunition in all of Europe, and perhaps even in the whole of NATO, claims Mateusz Morawiecki. That’s why the number one goal is to restock. »
And both parties want it to go fast. Thierry Breton has started a European tour of ammunition factories and wants to find solutions for each of them. Monday, at the end of the visit which took place behind closed doors, he already had leads:
” We already have three rotation teams working five days a week. Perhaps, for those who want it, we can go to six or even seven days, because we are now in a “war economy” for the defense industry. »
For Poland, this is the way to warm up its relations with Brussels. In any case, this is what Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki sees in the arrival of Thierry Breton: “ This is what we have been waiting for for a long time, the Polish efforts in the field of armaments and the arms transfers to Ukraine have been highly appreciated in Brussels. »
Whether Poland wants to have the largest army in Europeit also hopes to become one of the largest arms producers on the continent.
