Poland puts pressure on Germany

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Exports of the much-coveted Leopard 2 tanks require German government approval and Chancellor Olaf Scholz is under pressure to deliver more defense equipment to Ukraine.

He has so far said no to Leopard 2 tanks, citing that he wants to see broad agreement with countries, including the United States, to send such heavy, offensive vehicles.

Other countries that have Leopard 2 also cannot send these to Ukraine without German approval. Poland is one of the countries that has said it wants to send the tank as part of a coalition.

– The battle for our freedom, our future, rages in this now. If for many years we have invested in heavy war material, in tanks, they must not be left to rust in storage. They must be put in the hands of Europe’s defenders, says Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
