Poland moves troops to the border with Belarus

The move began on Saturday, says Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak on his Twitter.

“Over 1,000 soldiers as well as vehicles and defense material from the 12th and 17th Mechanized Brigades have started moving towards the eastern part of the country as part of Operation “Safe Poladsie”. This is to show that we are ready to respond to attempts to destabilize the area at the border with our country,” writes the Minister of Defense on Twitter.

In pictures on social media, you can see, among other things, military convoys on the Polish roads.

Linked to Lukashenko

The move is linked to the fact that Belarus offered the Wagner group a sanctuary in the country, reports Reuters. Lieutenant Colonel Joakin Paasikivi at the Norwegian Defense Academy also links the move to developments in Belarus.

– It is a precautionary measure on the signals that have come that the Wagner Group is regrouping to Belarus. But it is also a natural reaction to Lukashensko’s heightened tone regarding nuclear weapons, says Joakim Paasikivi.
