Pokémon TCG Pocket: Promo A 008

Card collectors haven’t always had it easy in Pokémon TCG Pocket. If you want to collect all the cards, you will eventually reach your limits, especially with the promo cards, because none of them actually exist yet.

Why is the map missing? The promo card A 008 has so far presented players with a puzzle because the card could not be found in the overview. Although there are A 007 and A 009, there is a gap between them, as if the A 008 did not exist.

Now it has finally appeared and there are even theories as to when and how you can get it. You can read here how you can find the map and what kind of map it is.

Everything about the Promo A 008 card

Which card is it? Promo A 008 is a Pokédex card that has the same abilities as common Pokédex cards. It allows you to view the top 3 cards of your deck.

How do you know which card it is? There is a way to change the settings to show hidden, uncollected cards. If you activate this, the missing slot will be displayed in the overview.

What is different about Promo A 008? Unlike common Pokédex cards, it has a special illustration made by Yuu Nishida. If you go to any Pokédex card after activating the corresponding settings, the presumed design will be displayed in black and white under “Similar cards”.

The design has now also appeared in color on various sites and social media channels, such as Pokéos.com, and shows a Pokédex surrounded by the three starter Pokémon of the first generation plus Pikachu.

This is how you can view Promo A 008

To make the hidden slot visible in your overview, you must follow the following steps:

  • First go to the “My Cards” overview
  • There you activate this control:
  • Then tap on the magnifying glass and scroll to the bottom of the settings to activate the following controls:

    • If you now confirm and go back to the overview, the slot is displayed and the card can be selected.

    How do you get the Promo A 008 card?

    So far there are only theories as to how you can get the card. Some of these are sometimes discussed on Reddit. If you look on the card’s page, under “Availability” it says that the card can be purchased as part of a promotion.

    In the thread via Reddit, user SolemnEzi reports a theory that assumes that the card is related to a Chinese New Year promotion. According to this, the promo card’s number 008 refers to a lucky number in Chinese culture, which could indicate that the card could be part of such a promotion should it exist.

    This also fits with the release date of the new set on January 30th, 2025, because the Chinese New Year begins on January 29th. So there might actually be something to this theory.
