Pokémon GO: Trainers have problems with new Ultra Beast

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

In Pokémon GO you can currently encounter the Ultra Beast Katagami in the raids, but the monster is not that easy to catch. We at MeinMMO have looked at why the trainers have such difficulties with this and what they want.

Which Pokemon is it? Starting September 13th, you can face the Ultra Beast Katagami in Northern Hemisphere level 5 raids. However, the plant and steel Pokémon from the 7th generation of games is giving the trainers a headache because it is more difficult to catch than expected. We’ll show you why.

Here you can find all information about the new ultra beasts Katagmi and Kaguron

Why is Katagami so hard to catch?

Katagami is surprisingly small: Already after the release on September 13th, many players were surprised by the size of the new ultra beast, because Katagami is smaller than expected for many. In the social networks for this raid boss, numerous memes and images from the catch mask can be found that show the mini-Pokémon. This is also the case in Jonteiz’s contribution:

However, if you take a look at Katagami’s more detailed data, it quickly becomes clear that the size of the raid boss is by no means an error in the game. The heavy art Pokémon was only 0.3 meters tall in the anime and weighed only 0.1 kg.

This is not surprising, because Katagami is also visually reminiscent of a folded origami. It has a white, paper-like body that has yellow and orange decorations.

Why is this a problem? The size of Katagami not only provides a special surprise for the trainers, but also brings with it one or the other challenge after the raid.

Not only is the Pokémon itself quite tiny, but so is its catch circle. As a result, Trainers have a harder time hitting the Pokemon with the ball, and they consider that eventually the monster might be more likely to flee.

The reddit user Bacteriophage also criticizes this and already complains in the title of his post about the circle being too small. So he writes (via reddit.com): “Capturing Katagami – What is it? A circle for ants?!”.

He then went on to explain on reddit that he was looking forward to catching Katagami, mainly because it wasn’t that difficult to defeat. After completing the first raid, however, he realized how small the Ultra Beast’s capture circle really is and that it’s not all that easy to fabulously hit the monster. So he asks himself: “How are fabulous throws even possible with the current raid boss?”.

Even though he was able to catch the monster in the end, it annoys him that the worse throws make it more likely that it will eventually flee. In addition, other small monsters, such as the lake trio, can also be caught with a larger catch circle. For this reason, he would like Niantic to make a corresponding adjustment.

Trainers want an important catch feature back

Bacteriophage is not alone in his opinion about the small catch circle, because as you can see from the comments, many players have difficulty catching Katagami. But many do not necessarily see the too small catch circle as a problem, but a missing catch feature.

Which feature do the trainers want? Unlike the other Ultra Beasts before, the trainers do not have special Ultra Balls to catch, but can only use the usual Premium Balls. However, the Ultra Balls are specifically designed to catch these Ultra Beasts and increase the likelihood of it staying in the ball.

That’s why this new catch feature, which was tested for the GO Fest finale, caused a lot of excitement in the community. So it’s not surprising that the trainers now want this item back. So you can read the following under the reddit post:

  • FigurineLambda: “I’m 100% okay with the circle being very small for historical reasons. If they want to respect the lore, then they should respect it and give us Ultra Balls designed for situations like this!”
  • rlopez89: “I’m not the best at great shots, but I’m passable and great shots are easy for the most part. I was struggling to catch my first one and that was after 15 golden raspberries. I wasted so many and almost didn’t catch it. I hope they get it a little closer since we don’t have Ultra Balls so it’s even harder to catch.”
  • IndependentAd4613: “With all the other legendary ones, I’ve mostly had fabulous hits, and pretty easily at that. Maybe it’s just taking time… I just don’t see myself doing the most fabulous ones here, only the great ones, which pretty much reduces the chances I think. I’d have to check the percentage, but I’m guessing the chance is down about 1/3 overall. […] The other problem is the ultra balls. They’re in the game, we have to use them once, we get another Ultra Beast and we can’t use them?”
  • Are there ways to hit Katagami better? As reddit user tkcom explains in the comments on reddit, the in-game AR feature would be an alternative.

Unlike the standard catch screen, the monster is shown to you through your camera in your area. You can regulate your distance from this monster yourself and, for example, get closer to hit it better.

However, the comments also show that while it’s hard to hit Katagami with a fabulous throw, it’s not impossible. Silveranus reports on reddit that he hit the ultra beast 7 times with fabulous throws and it finally fled despite golden raspberries.

So even with a perfect throw, you still need a bit of luck to be able to secure the Pokémon.

What’s your opinion on the new Ultra Beast Katagami? Have you already secured the raid boss? And did you also have such problems when catching? Feel free to write us your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments.

However, Katagami is not the only raid boss who is currently presenting challenges to the trainers. Another new ultra beast causes a decent queue. We explain why.
