Pokémon GO: Proto-Rumble Event is finally bringing back Rayquaza

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In Pokémon GO, the Hoenn Global Tour is fast approaching, but before that, some of the region’s legendary monsters—including Rayquaza—are returning in the Proto-Rumble event!

When is the event running? The Proto-Rumble event starts on February 22, 2023 at 10:00 local time and runs until February 24, 2023 at 22:00. It runs from Wednesday to Friday before the Hoenn global tour.

“Proto-Rumble” will bring some changed spawns, as well as the return of an old favorite: Rayquaza, one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO, returns to the raids.

We show you here what awaits you in the event.

Rayquaza with new attack, Mega Latios and Latias in Raids

This is the highlight of the event: With Rayquaza you can secure a particularly popular and strong Pokémon in the event. You can challenge it during Proto-Rumbles in the 5-Star Raids.

In addition, it will get a new attack: If you grab it from a raid during the event, it will master the dragon-charged attack “Broadside”. It deals 50 damage in trainer battles and lowers the opponent’s Attack stat. Meanwhile, she deals 35 damage in arena battles and raids.

Can Rayquaza be Shiny? Yes, the shiny form of Rayquaza can also be caught with luck. It looks like this:

Latias and Latios in Mega Raids: The Mega Forms of Latias and Latios will be in the Mega Raids during the event. Both can also be caught as Shiny with luck. However, one should not underestimate the difficulty of these raids.

Bonus during the event: You will get double XP for evolutions during Proto-Rumble. In addition, the spawns will be changed a bit during these days and will point in the direction of Hoenn.
