Pokémon GO: Poll on C-Day times is clear: “Yes, should be changed”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

A few days ago, Pokémon GO hosted a Community Day (C-Day) with Galar Zigzachs, which drew a lot of criticism. We at MeinMMO therefore wanted to know from you how you imagine this event to be in the future and are showing you the results here.

Which event is it about? On August 13, 2022, Pokémon GO hosted its monthly Community Day, centered around Galar Zigzachs. In addition, Niantic gave you a variety of bonuses, such as improved stardust and increased XP, as well as special research.

But while many were happy about the dark and normal Pokémon, there was also plenty of criticism of the event. The reason for this was the event period planned by Niantic. We have summarized below why this led to a good discussion and how you imagine the event to be in the future.

Here you can find the dates for the Community Days in September, October and November.

That’s why the event times of the C-Days cause a lot of discussion

That’s the problem: As you know by now, this event period also lasted 3 hours and therefore ran from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. Thus, the Community Day was held exactly over lunchtime. But it was precisely this that led to problems with the prevailing weather conditions in some regions.

Many players complained about the high temperatures at that time. In some areas, people were even warned not to go outside because the sun was too intense. But playing Pokémon GO from home is hardly possible after the smoke has worsened.

For this reason, the trainers have been demanding that the event times be adjusted for some time.

Were times always like this? No, the event times were not always like this. It was not until spring 2022 that Niantic reduced the times from the previous 6 hours to 3 hours, which led to a lot of headwind from the community after the announcement.

However, this has not changed and since then the trainers have had to play in the intended 3-hour window in order to be able to use all the Community Day content. And the level 4 raids that followed the C-Day, which Niantic recently introduced, obviously couldn’t change this opinion.

Poll shows majority wants times to change

After the current event times of the Community Days were repeatedly criticized, we wanted to know from you in a survey how you imagine these events to be in the future. So whether you are happy with the current 3 hours or would change something about the times.

This is how you made your decision: To date, August 24, 2022, as of 2:00 p.m., a total of 2,416 people have taken part in our survey. And the results are pretty clear. So we asked you: “What should Community Day look like for you in the future?” and received the following answers from you:

  • 44% (1,063 votes) for “The event should run for 6 hours again”
  • 33% (797 votes) for “Community Day should run all day”
  • 17% (414 votes) for “Community Day should be a 3-hour window that you can choose yourself”
  • 6% (142 votes) for “The event should remain at 3 hours”
  • What do the results show? Your votes show that a full 94%, or 2,274 people, would like the times of Community Day to change. Just 6% are satisfied with the current times.

However, opinions differ widely regarding the length of the event. So the majority would be happy about a return to a 6-hour event. But a full event day is also conceivable for a third of you.

That’s why Niantic should adjust the times of the Community Days

The fact that opinions differ widely with regard to the event times is not only evident in the survey itself, but also in your comments under our post on MeinMMO and in our Pokémon GO Facebook group.

No fixed time: There, some find a time-independent solution in particular to be a good idea. With this, the players should be able to activate an event period of 3 hours on C-Day with the help of a smoke or ticket, depending on how it suits them in time.

Even if this option was only popular with 17%, i.e. 414 trainers, in our survey, this idea keeps popping up in your suggestions. You can find the following comments:

  • Wolve In The Wall: “It’s best not to set a specific time window at all, but just like ‘back then’ from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – or better still analogous to raids (I think 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.).
    1. Is it really a DAY instead of “Happy Hour”?
    2. In this time window everyone should be able to participate for 1-3 hours if they really want to
    3. Whether you play for just one hour or three or the whole day is up to you.”
  • Ivan: “I’m going strong for a weekend ticket or a smoke of choice for areas with few stops that you can ignite yourself for three hours. It would also be conceivable (if no smoke, because too individual) that you get a ‘mega-lure module’ that you can activate at a stop or even at an arena and then spawn creatures within a radius of 300m.”
  • ARTigkeitsbaer: “Well, I played that day, had a few shady spots, but after the 3 hours I noticed that I had a headache. I think a slight heat stroke. I don’t like the time limit at all. It would be better if they let it run that day and you can unlock it.”
  • Extension of periods: But in general, many trainers in the comments are of the opinion that the 3 hours are not enough or that the event should at least be postponed to a different time. For some, family and weekend work play a decisive role:

  • Daniel H.: “3 hours is not enough. They say Community Day? A day has 24 hours”
  • Dietemar v. A.: “Yes, should be changed. Also for the workers. The evening hours would be better.”
  • Isabell K.: “I found the 6-hour one better than the 3-hour one. I usually get it wrong or always come in just before the end.”
  • Stephanie L.: “And in principle it would be helpful if everything wasn’t always 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cooking and lunch shredding at Mamas every C-Day.”
  • Mo L.: “The old times (6 hours) would be better not to rush if you work at the time.”
  • “You act like there’s no shadow”

But not all coaches have a problem with the change, because the 3 hours are enough for them to play. However, not all of them can understand the excitement surrounding the reduced event times and lunchtime play. You can also find the following comments on MeinMMO and in our Facebook group:

  • Ascy: “Due to the additional feature with the level 4 raids, the 3 hours are now sufficient. Admittedly, I didn’t last 3 hours because it just got too warm for me. I finished my tasks so far and was happy to cool down. Thing is, it’s getting hard to find a time slot that’s going to fit. Bottom line, everyone will find a pro and con. It’s summer, there will be 1-2 C-Days, which will get quite warm…”
  • Vallo: “I don’t care. Put your cap on, take your drink with you and let the hunt begin. It’s only 3 hours and after about an hour I lose interest anyway.”
  • LadyH: “I think the three hours are enough and the hottest time of the day is not at noon, but in the late afternoon.”
  • Sören L.: “You behave as if there were no shadows… Putting cell phones on ice packs also helps, otherwise just take a power bank with you and drink enough.”
  • Oli255: “I passed a tennis court while playing. The seats were taken. I could see little through planting but could hear the sounds of the balls bouncing. I also met teenagers in football outfits, apparently on their way to the sports field. And this is real exercise and not just walking like in Pokémon GO. Oh yes, and then there was the weekend construction site on the railway line, hard physical work! All this fuss about heat and health in Pokémon GO almost seems like a satire on our fear society. You can’t take that seriously anymore.”
  • It remains to be seen whether the times will change in the future. If there is more information about this, you can find out from us on MeinMMO.

What do you think of the 3-hour Community Day event window? Would you like a change? And what does this look like? Or do you have enough time and you can’t understand the criticism of other players at all? Do let us know in the comments.

The next big event is already in the starting blocks and, in contrast to Community Day, runs for a full 8 hours. We have summarized all content for the final event of GO Fest 2022 for you.
