Pokémon GO: New Shop is now active in Germany

There is now a web shop for Pokémon GO where you can buy coins. Here we summarize what the prices look like and what bonus they bring.

What kind of store is this? Normally you can just buy the coins for Pokémon GO in the in-game shop. That is still the case, but now there is an alternative.

Pokémon GO announced a web store a few weeks ago, which is now also available in Germany. There you should be able to take advantage of various offers and buy bundles in the future, but according to the current status only certain coin packages can be bought (via store.pokemongolive.com).

But why should you take this detour at all if you decide to buy coins?

This is what the prices in the Pokémon GO store look like

There are currently 4 coin packages to buy in the shop, the prices of which are almost the same as what they would cost in the app. The special thing, however, is that you get a few bonus coins with every purchase. So you get a bit more for your money.

  • 1,200 PokéCoins are available for EUR 11.99, plus 60 bonus coins
  • 2,500 PokéCoins are available for EUR 23.99, plus 150 bonus coins
  • 5,200 PokéCoins costs €47.99, plus 350 Bonus Coins
  • 14,500 PokéCoins cost 119.99 euros, plus 1,000 bonus coins
  • In order to make a purchase, you have to log in to the shop with your Pokémon GO account. After the purchase, the coins will be credited to the account.

Why does this shop exist? There is currently no official announcement on the subject. However, players assume (via reddit) that Pokémon GO goes this route to save on fees to the respective app stores that would have to be paid if something is bought in the game.

The shop in the game itself is also still there.

Is it worth it? Basically you can get a few extra coins with the bundle, but the bonus is not too big. It should also be noted that both the 100-coin package for EUR 0.99 and the 550-coin package for EUR 5.99 are currently completely missing from the web store. These smaller amounts cannot currently be selected.

Can I get coins without a shop? Basically, you can still earn 50 coins per day by defending arenas.

It remains to be seen whether the offer will attract players. Recently, among other things, decisions on the long-distance raid passes were criticized, the price of which was raised in the game. As a result, some players announced boycotts and stressed that they did not want to spend any more money on the game for the time being, as long as no changes were made.

At the same time, however, Niantic recently stated that the sales of Pokémon GO in 2023 have so far been higher than in the same period of 2022. You can read more about this topic here.
