Pokémon GO: Mysterious coins leave trainers puzzled

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

In Pokémon GO, trainers are being pursued by a new Pokémon, there are now golden PokéStops, and a mysterious box has appeared. We summarize all information about the current puzzle in Pokémon GO.

Update, November 6th, 3:00 p.m.: The riddle has just been solved – by the official side. New information has been published on the Pokémon GO Twitter channel that tells exactly what the new monster and the box are all about.

This is the new monster: The little pursuer on the map is actually a new Pokémon called Gimmighoul. This is a Ghost-type monster that can appear in two forms – it will feature in Pokémon Crimson & Crimson.

  • The “chest form” is a greedy specter inside a coin chest, as per the teaser page. This tries to lure trainers to it and get them to give you coins.
  • There is also the “wandering form”, a wandering greedy ghost with a coin on its back. This is the variant that is following you in Pokémon GO.

The Two Forms of Greedy Specter

This article was updated (see above) at 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Here is the original article.

What’s going on in Pokemon GO? On Saturday, November 5th, 2022, the Community Day Classic took place with Dratini in the game. But that shouldn’t be the only event: After Community Day, golden PokéStops suddenly appeared and Professor Willow contacted the players.

Willow talked about a mysterious coin that could be collected at the golden stop. He also brought in his new colleague “Jim,” who also commented. These coins should now be examined.

More and more stops turned gold and offered a chance to collect such coins – but not always. In addition, a new type of small monster was chasing the players, which apparently has it in for the coins. In addition, a teaser website featuring a crate was released by the Pokémon Company.

These processes are currently causing a lot of puzzles among the trainers in Pokémon GO. We summarize here all known information about the current puzzle.

The Mystery of Paldea Coins, Golden Stops and the New Pokemon – All Hints & Info

What is currently known? Here we collect all the details that are known about the puzzle so far. It is not yet known what the riddle will lead to in the end.

You can find the information here:

  • The new Pursuing Pokémon has no name yet and cannot be caught at this time.
  • If you tap it, it looks for coins and apparently points in the direction of such a coin with its antennae.
  • The little pursuer is not yet catchable
  • The coins come from the Paldea region – this is the region of the new Pokémon games Crimson & Crimson. They will be released on November 18th.
  • Willow’s colleague “Jim” is also from the new games.
  • At the new stop “Jim” from Paldea showed up
  • You can collect multiple coins, but not every gold stop gives those coins.
  • The golden stops can give unusually many items at once. This includes various Poké Balls, but also development items.
  • There is a new teaser website with a crate, with a counter in the top left corner of the image. This chest fills up more and more with the mysterious coins.
  • The chest is filled with coins, the fourth step is difficult to see (via chest.pokemon)

The counter is currently at “839” and the open box is already well filled (as of November 6th, 11:00 a.m.). You can find the link to the website here (via chest.pokemon.com). The official Twitter account for Pokémon also posts various statuses of the box (via Twitter) with times. It remains to be seen what will happen when the box is full

  • So far, four steps can be seen with the crate – the opened crate, coins inside, the crate from behind and an opening animation.
  • According to dataminers from the Pokeminers (via Twitter), by 5 p.m. you should expect to see significantly fewer gold stops. Until then, it could be worth collecting coins – even if it is not yet clear what they are ultimately good for.
  • The coins are classified in the bag under the development items. So it’s possible that they have something to do with a development of the new monster.
  • According to Pokeminers, however, there is currently no data on the new monster in the APK version of Pokémon GO (via Twitter). So don’t expect to catch it anytime soon.
  • In the Pokémon GO subreddit “The Silph Road”, players are currently puzzling over the current facts. So far it is not clear what the mystery is all about. However, some suspect (via reddit) that the filling box amounts to the introduction of the new Pokemon currently stalking you in-game.

In any case, it wouldn’t be the first time that Pokémon GO introduced a new monster through a sudden, surprising action that would later play a role in other Pokémon games. In 2018, strange monsters suddenly appeared everywhere that no trainer knew yet. This later turned out to be Meltan, which was related to the Switch games Let’s Go, Pikachu and Let’s Go, Eevee.
