Pokémon GO launches Saturday raid event with new Regidrago

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In Pokémon GO, the dragon Pokémon Regidrago moves into the top raids. Already this weekend you can take up the fight with him.

What is a top raid? The top raids were introduced in fall 2022. They are characterized by a few special features:

  • A strong opponent in the raid, in the beginning it was the unleashed Hoopa
  • You can only compete locally, not via long-distance raids
  • The eggs start hatching 24 hours before. So you can plan where the raids are.
  • The raid boss is available for 30 minutes from launch
  • When do the new top raids start? The first top raid event of the new Rising Heroes season runs on Saturday, March 11, 2023. There will be three timings when Regidrago will hatch:

  • 11:00 a.m. local time
  • 2:00 p.m. local time
  • 5:00 p.m. local time
  • What does the new top raid bring on Saturday?

What is this Pokemon? Regidrago is a legendary Dragon-type Pokémon. It was introduced in the Snowlands of the Crown DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield in 2020.

Regidrago belongs to the group of “Legendary Giants” created by Regigigas. These include Regice, Regirock, Registeel and also the new “Regieleki”, which will also come to Pokémon GO in the course of the season via a top raid.

Now Regidrago will be the focus. It can also be seen briefly in the trailer for the season:

Special bonus: As announced by the team behind Pokémon GO, you will be able to participate in a limited research when you compete in top raids. She is said to bring candies for Regice, Registeel, and Regirock. However, you can only get them once.

How hard will the raid be? Basically you have to plan that you can only compete on site. So you can’t hope for remote support or take part in a top raid yourself via remote raid. That complicates the whole thing.

However, according to the current status, Regidrago should not be as difficult to defeat as was the case with Unleashed Hoopa. In theory, it should even be possible to defeat Regidrago with two people – although you then need powerful mega counters like Gardevoir and strong cryptos like Dragoran and Brutalanda. A victory is more likely if you fight Regidrago with at least 3 trainers, more to be on the safe side.

Helpful is the type of Regidrago. As a Dragon-type Pokémon, it’s vulnerable to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy attacks. This is an important difference from the unleashed Hoopa – this had to be fought primarily with Bug Pokémon, which were quickly defeated.

Accordingly, Regidrago should be an easier raid than fighting the unleashed Hoopa.

The new Regi monsters should only be available on the top raid dates during the season. So you should make a note of the date. And there are other exciting events in March not to be missed in Pokémon GO.
